Elon Musk says Twitter restored Ye's account without his knowledge before acquisition

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, announced a content moderation council for the social media platform.

On his first full day as the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk says the company will form a "content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints."

He also said Twitter restored the account of Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, before he completed the deal to purchase the social media platform.

"They did not consult with or inform me," Musk says.

The social media platform had locked Ye's account earlier this month after an antisemitic post that threated Jewish people.

Musk says the company will not make major decisions on content or reinstating suspended accounts until the council convenes.

NPR has reached out to Twitter for comment and will update when we get a response.

Musk has shaken up Twitter's leadership

Musk bought the company Thursday night. After making Twitter a private company, Musk also fired the CEO, chief financial officer and the company's top lawyer — signaling a new era for the social media site.

"The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner," Musk wrote.

He added that Twitter would not become a "free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said with no consequences."

But Musk also said he wanted the platform to offer a "desired experience" based on users' preferences, similar to the choices offered in movies and video games.

Many have questioned whether Musk's vision will include lifting the account ban of former President Donald Trump, who was permanently suspended after the capitol insurrection.

In a Truth Social post on Friday, Trump wrote, "I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs."

Vijaya Gadde, the top Twitter lawyer fired by Musk, played a key role in deciding to ban Trump from the platform.

Ye's comments also drew restrictions from Meta

Ye's Instagram account had also been restricted by parent-company, Meta, earlier this month.

Upon his return to the site on Thursday, Ye posted, "I lost 2 billion dollars in one day and I'm still alive."

Leicester City vs Manchester City: Lineups & LIVE updates

Man City look to continue their charge towards the top of the table

Manchester City look to further continue their charge for the top of the table as they travel away to Leicester City, who are currently sat 17th in the table with just 12 points from 11 games.

Pep Guardiola's City are only two points behind Arteta's Arsenal and come into this on the back of a goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Man City however have only won two of their last six away games.

Leicester City's season did not begin in a good way but they have slowly gathered momentum and established defensive solidity. The Foxes are unbeaten in the last three games, winning two of them and not conceding in any of those games. Brendan Rodgers's side come into this on the back of an emphatic 4-0 win over Wolves.

Leicester City vs Manchester City confirmed lineups

Leicester City XI (3-4-3): Ward; Amartey, Soyuncu, Faes; Castagne, Dewsbury-Hall, Tielemans, Justin; Maddison, Vardy, Barnes

Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Akanji, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, Gundogan, ; Bernardo, De Bruyne, Grealish; Alvarez

NFL betting: Tom Brady and Tampa Bay are still the clear NFC South favorites

It’s still Tampa Bay’s NFC South to lose even after Thursday night’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers dropped to 3-5 after a 27-22 defeat on Thursday night. Tampa had a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter before the Ravens scored 14 straight to lead at halftime and jumped out to a 24-13 lead with just under seven minutes to go.

It’s the first three-game losing streak for a team with Tom Brady since 2002. Yet the lack of strength in the NFC South means the Bucs are still -165 to win the division at BetMGM despite being two games under .500. If Tampa doesn't win the division in 2022, it'll be the second time in three seasons that Brady's Bucs failed to win the NFC South after the Patriots failed to win the AFC East just once in the 18 seasons Brady was the team's starter for the majority of the season.

The Atlanta Falcons — yes, really — are the No. 2 favorites to win the division at +300. The Falcons are 3-4 and host the 2-5 Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers got their second win of the season just five days ago at home against the Bucs. That was P.J. Walker’s second start at QB this season following an ankle injury to Baker Mayfield and the second game for interim coach Steve Wilks after Matt Rhule’s firing.

The Panthers are still the underdogs in the division at +1100, though their odds will likely get better with a win at Atlanta on Sunday. The New Orleans Saintsare also 2-5 and they’re at +550 to win the division. The Saints host the 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

While the Bucs are still favored to win the division simply because there's no other strong alternative, things may not turn around for Tampa Bay for a couple of weeks.

The Buccaneers host an also-struggling but still talented Los Angeles Ramsteam in Week 9, then head to Germany to play the surprising Seattle Seahawksin Week 10 before the bye week. Could Tampa Bay be 3-7 heading into that bye week? We certainly wouldn’t rule it out. And we also wouldn’t be surprised if they were still the betting favorites to win the division even with that record.

Leslie Jordan, 'Will & Grace' actor, dies at 67

LOS ANGELES — Leslie Jordan, who won an Emmy playing the conniving Beverley Leslie on "Will & Grace" and became a social media sensation during the pandemic, died Monday after he crashed his car into a tree in Hollywood, his agent said.

"The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan," David Shaul said. "Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times."

Jordan, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:38 a.m. after firefighters responding to reports of a collision at Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street found him "pulseless and non-breathing" in a gray sedan, authorities said.

His agent said it is suspected that Jordan suffered "some sort of medical emergency" that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Fox Entertainment said Monday that Jordan had completed taping nine episodes of its sitcom "Call Me Kat." The latest will air as scheduled Thursday, but with an added "in memoriam" segment about the actor who played Phil, the company said.

Born April 29, 1955, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the diminutive Jordan (he was 4-foot-11) carved out a thriving career on the small screen playing small but often scene-stealing roles on shows from "Murphy Brown" and "Boston Public" to "Star Trek: Voyage," "American Horror Story" and "Hearts Afire."

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak proves Winston Churchill's theory on India wrong, and how; Anand Mahindra points out

Billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra, after Rishi Sunak became the prime minister of the UK on October 24, shared a Twitter post. In his post, Mahindra refers to a quote by Winston Churchill.

“In 1947 on the cusp of Indian Independence, Winston Churchill supposedly said “…all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw." Today, during the 75th year of our Independence, we’re poised to see a man of Indian origin anointed as PM of the UK. Life is beautiful," Mahindra wrote on Twitter.
